Nokia’s New Inexpensive Smartphone Series: Hands on Review

The first-ever mobile phone producers Nokia began their business in 1985 with headquarters in Finland. With the passage of time, this consumer electronic and technology venture grew out to overrule every possible mobile phone in that era. They stayed long until the 21st century when Samsung and Apple took over with eminent technology of smartphones.

However, it isn’t like Nokia has given up. A small proportion of youth still favors the old school and classic design that the company once offered. To bring back their old legacy, a new Nokia series is underway comprising of both smart and typical mobile phones that prioritize design, price and quality. Let us review each in detail with their pros and cons below.

Nokia 1 Review

Honestly, you are not going to get anything as good as this. Nokia 1 offers a unique Android experience that comes with an extremely affordable price and lesser specs. It may not make many headlines, but it is a pretty decent phone that’ll suit your needs.

Nokia 1 Features and Specs

Nokia 1 has 4.5-inch Non-HD display, 1 GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, a 5MP rear and 2MP front camera. Besides, it has a 4G connectivity and 2150mAh battery, with the operating system Android 8.0 Oreo.

The design though is very basic. It has a plastic body that has sizable bezels around the screen that makes it look rough and a typically solid Nokia device. There is a microUSB port on the bottom and a speaker at the back. The phone is lightweight that makes it easier carry.

The screen is functional, responsive but lacks clarity like of a good touch screen due to its low resolution. The main aim of this phone is to provide basic Android function at low cost and so it does that well so we shouldn’t be keeping up any high expectations. It has its cons but we can just accept it because of just how cheap this Nokia 1 is and who is its’s targeted at.

Nokia 1 Price and Release Date

The phone is set to release in April 2018 with its other counterparts of the new Nokia smartphones. The good news is that this is available for only $85 making it the first Nokia Android smartphone to fall below the $100 mark.

Nokia 8110 review

The Nokia 8110 originated long back in the 1996 when Nokia released the banana phone. Now, 22 years later, it is reloaded again to bring back all the 90’s Nostalgia. The phone was the first to feature an ergonomic shape that had a slider coming down from its body and curving gently towards the bottom.

The new Nokia 8110 is still just a typical phone that runs a Firefox OS created by KaiOS. Nokia 8110 features a numeric keypad and a polycarbonate slider that you don’t expect phones to have nowadays. It has an internet connectivity or 4G in simpler terms. You can access through Facebook, emails, Twitter and some features of the Google Assistant.

Apart from the features, Nokia 8110 has an easy to use interface, a reliable standard and a body that easily slides for answering calls and texts.

Nokia 8110 Price and Release Date

A great phone gives people all the chance to have fun and relax while knowing that you have all the basic essential of a smartphone with you. It’ll come at a reasonable price of £69.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Review

The Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a flagship design that includes a latest display screen and camera technology. The handset has a 5.5-inch QHD OLED display and a resolution of 2560 x 1440, that is covered in 95% vacuum molded Gorilla Glass. Besides, there is a stainless steel frame at the back for protection. As far as the specifications are concerned, the Nokia 8 has a Snapdragon 835 chip set, 6GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage.

Moreover, the Nokia 8 Sirocco features a dual rear-facing camera; a fingerprint sensor and most importantly the face unlock technology. The best part, it isn’t like the two old-school phones discussed above. The Nokia 8 has latest technology that will keep it on the line with its fierce rivals. It has an Android 8 Oreo operating system that totally justifies the above said statement.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Price and Release Date

Similar to Nokia 1, this phone will also release in April 2018. The next few months will give us major releases so we’ll know how tough the competition will get as time passes. The price of the Nokia 8 Sirocco will be around €749 / AU$1,199 (around £660, $900). Comparing to OnePlus 5T and the Moto Z2 Force, it is very pricey and that be a little hard to swallow. Obviously, for the same set of features, Nokia may be charging a little too high. However, we will know better, when the phone actually releases.

Nokia 8 Performance

Overall, the phone is very responsive, with an interactive screen that is good at both touch and gaming. The camera does really well. It is tuned by Zeiss Optics that has a long history with Nokia phones.

Apart from that, we’re hoping the Snapdragon processor will be an add-on to the device in its performance. The RAM is also powerful enough to tackle any memory related challenges that are yet to come its way. The devices is power-packed with latest speculations that will be a boost to the phone’s performance.

While the Sirocco may have some tech drawbacks, but we hope, it will do better as a Nokia Android brand. It might not be standout in front of Apple and Samsung but will surely pave way for a bright future of the company.
