No matter where you are, what story you want to tell or how you want to tell it, Gnarbox is here to support you. Previously, people had a hard time capturing precious moments of their life but with advent of digital cameras life has been much easier. As technology is progressing forwards, people are incessantly increasing their demands. They want to take photos, edit them and share it with the world and that’s where Gnarbox comes in.
Whether you’re out on a skating adventure or trekking the mountains, Gnarbox has got you covered when it comes to shooting outdoor videos. Earlier, you would have required a laptop or more likely have to wait until you get back home and have the facility of a computer to make an edit. But not any longer because Gnarbox turns your phone into a 4K video editing studio.
Basically, this rugged black box is a pocket sized device that allows you to backup, organize, edit and share HD photos and videos. It comes with a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, Wifi, 128GB of storage, 4GB RAM, a dedicated GPU, 2 SD card slots, 3 USB ports and astonishingly around seven hours battery life.
With the help of this portable device and just your phone, you will be able to make 4K videos and instantly share them with the world. You will only have to download the Gnarbox app on your mobile which will be used to preview and edit the videos and photos on the Gnarbox. It’s that easy. The app is available for iOS and Android users.
The great thing about this paperback sized device is that all of the videos and photos are stored on the box and it does not take any space in your mobile phone. You just have to download the app on your phone and voilà, you get to control and operate the Gnarbox and perform whatever editing you want to do in your videos and photos. Another important point to note is the fact that this device is shockproof and waterproof so taking it outdoors will not be a problem for the users.
The Gnarbox CEO Tim Feeds has said that the app includes a bunch of option to edit the videos. For instance, you could trim the video frame-by-frame, add the slo- or fastmo option, change the aspect ratios and adjust light, filters and colors. Moving on, you can even find highlights and key moments in your video, it’s just like what other cameras do. You can also export high resolution videos directly to social media platforms like Vimeo, YouTube, Facebook, etc.
But with all these pros there are some cons as well. The phone’s battery drains away much quickly and the Gnarbox also seems to get a little warm. We also had to attempt a few times before successfully exporting the video to the phone from the box.
Apart from a few common hiccups which will eventually be solved, we can easily say that this $299 device is worth purchasing. We believe it was wise enough of a decision when 3000 backers invested $500,000 back in 2015 on Kickstarter.
For us, the best thing about a product like this is that it can be used by anyone who owns a camera and one does not necessarily have to carry around a laptop on trips and adventures around the world.
